Witbier Blanche: Hoegaarden

The same things that once made baseball this country's pastime gives this beer its place among the elite: history and tradition. The Hoegaarden Brewery is pretty much the Wrigley Field or Fenway Park of breweries.

The infamous "hexagonal glass."
Appearance: Hoegaarden is a beautiful shade of gold. It has the typical hazy look as most witbiers do. There isn't much of a head once the beer is poured. Hoegaarden is typically served in the infamous hexagonal glass. According to the story on the website, the glass is angled perfectly so that the body heat from your hand doesn't affect the temperature of the beer.

ABV: 4.9 percent

Smell: It's love at first waft with this beer. I got a decent amount of citrus fruits such as lemon and orange.

Taste: A lot of lemon and a lot of wheat. The two flavors work very well together. Just like many do with Blue Moon and an orange, drink Hoegaarden with a wedge of lemon. You won't be disappointed.

Overall Rating:

Given the choice of many beers, if this is among said choices I', most likely going with this one. It's one of my all-time favorites. No beer out there compares to it, it's so unique.
