According to a link I found on Beer Pulse last night, Disney's Magic kingdom is close to serving beer and wine in a new park restaurant. This brings back recent memories of local outrage when a certain amusement park (I won't name any names) planned to open up a beer garden within park grounds, citing that it was a family park and that it should remain as such.
God forbid that a park guest might consume an alcoholic beverage and hence march his or herself out into the rest of the park! What an atrocity.
It was convenient that many of these people didn't toss into their calculations that Disney Parks have already sold alcohol in the past. Still, I didn't see anyone trying to rip away the family park label from Disney. Can anyone say hypocrisy?
I've deducted that the majority of people in this area don't like change. There are some things that they expect to remain at a constant for the rest of their lives.
Yes, it could be unfortunate if someone has a few too many beers and gets sick when they ride an 80 mph roller coaster. The same could happen without alcohol and just too much fried food. Sadly, this slips the minds of most because it isn't convenient for their side of the argument.
Having a good beer only enhances child memories I got from amusement parks and associating with Disney, in my opinion. Good form.
