Kirin Soft-Serve Beer Video

Most of the craft beer world has come across news of Japanese brewing company, Kirin developing some type of beer and sorbet mix. Within the last few days I've been able to find a little bit more information on how this might actually work.

I know I've posted at least one link concerning this on Twitter, but according to a link from Gizmag.com all this is supposed to be is a sorbet-like substance that sits atop the crown of your beer and helps to keep it chilled. Apparently a video has even made its way to the public, acting as a decent visual aid.

I'm not really sure what i think of this. I've been a beer traditionalist when it comes to temperature. I tend to let my beer get a little closer to room temperature before I take a drink. I don't need it to be just above freezing to be able to enjoy it. I believe most of the flavors are lost as the temperature gets closer to freezing.

The fluffy, natural head is a huge part as to what gives a good beer its character anyways. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be willing to try a beer with this abnormal ice substance on top of it if it ever makes it stateside.
