It's known that I have a strong interest in the craft offerings in a few of our stadiums here in Pittsburgh. I've made mention of a funny story concerning beer stands at Yankee Stadium in New York City on my Twitter feed, but I'm quite positive that this is the first time I've shed light onto it on this blog.
About a week and a half ago, a photograph went viral of a beer stand called "Craft Beer Destination." If featured Miller-Coors brews such as Batch 19 and Blue Moon. Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy was available as well, but I can make an exception since I can go for one of those once in a while. Still, the whole point of this is that there are tons of better local options in that market.
According to an article found on the NPR website, the stand has been renamed as "Beer Mixology Destination." The New York Yankees are one of the premier sports franchises in the world. Yet, it can't pull off a decent beer scene in its own stadium. At least, in my opinion it hasn't thus far.
The stand would have been better off simply being called "Strike Two."
