Light at the End of the Inbox

I'm sure almost every blogger out there gets numerous emails from people trying to get you to review their respective product or to offer free press releases. Hell, I've had people emailing me to invite me to some sort of beer release event referring to me by using the name of "Mike" only to find out it was an intern typing through a supervisor's email account. I cleared up the name confusion and got a response from the supervisor asking that if I'm the one she should be talking to since this is my blog. I replied that I was said person and never got a response back.

Confused yet? Great.

Well, once in a while we come across an email that sticks out from the rest of the sludge we receive in our inboxes. Ones that are certainly not sludge. Ones that can even be for a good cause. I got one of those yesterday pertaining to the local Brewing Up A Cure charity event that occurs annually and is set for its seventh installment on Oct. 12.

Not only are local brewers such as All Saints, Penn and Full Pint going to be there with awesome beer, but the Pittsburgh T.R.U.B home brewing club will also be there with approximately 80 more beers for attendees to sample.

The event supports the Cystic Fibrosis and has come up with $140,000 in the past six events to be sent to said foundation, according to the email I received.

Brewing Up A Cure is on Oct. 12 as I mentioned earlier and lasts from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. There is a fundraising site to make it easier for donations as well as the event's website where you can purchase tickets which I'm told are going fairly quick.

Still, I find it ironic that I came across the email for this event this week. We pretty much all know someone that has dealt with or have been affected by diseases such as cancer. My family lost a cousin to it just a few weeks ago. She was a craft beer fan just like much of us. So, I've tried supporting a local Munhall foundation as well when it had a fundraiser at the Waterfront Shopping Complex. I just felt drawn to be there. I kind of felt the same way upon hearing about this event. it looks pretty tasty and is for a good cause. So, try to check it out!
